Learning New Words is Poetic Intelligence

expanding use of words and learning new words is Poetic Intelligence

psithurism - by janna lopez

I love discovering interesting new words; either how they sound, or how they’re spelled, or the very unique definition they reveal. Learning new words is a simple yet substantial joy-filled element of Poetic Intelligence. When I learn a new word, I often will write a poem to apply and honor the discovery. What new words have you discovered lately? Here’s my poem, “psithurism.”

befell, be still,

be on a watch tower

sly towards merriment

perhaps an open shadow

offers movement

sought after air

remains still

a breath too

long

current drifts

towards memory

towards remembrance

of what children long forgot

light. air. whoooosh…

branches, twigs, limbs

{rejoice}

in wake leaves

shimmy

at last

reminding

whispers celebrate
